Part 1: Drilling Holes in the Scoop

Now that you have painted your scoop it is time to drill the mounting holes.  Drilling through this thin material can be tricky but following the steps below you will be able to drill the holes with ease.

We recommend drilling the flange with a 7/64" drill bit to provide a clearance hole for a 4-40 button head screw.

Tools required:  a sharp 7/64" drill bit, a drill, a soft plastic drill mat or piece soft wood (pine).

Step 1:  Locate the dimples on the of the scoop.  Each JBodyRC scoops comes with a minimum of 3 mounting holes; one in the front and at least one on either side.

Step 2:  Place the scoop onto your drill mat or wood.  Locate the drill bit to the dimple of the flange.  Ensure that the drill is perpendicular to the flange and the scoop is flat to the mat while securing the scoop.  Drill the through the flange.

CRITICAL:  Use only the weight of the drill for pressure and a very slow speed (~60-100 RPM) to drill the hole.  Light pressure and a slow speed will ensure you get a clean burr free hole.  Likewise, high RPM and excessive pressure will produce a burr and/or a possible tear.

Step 3:  Repeat the drilling process for the remaining mounting locations.
